• Jett Lawrence tallies 1-3 moto scores for overall victory
  • Second overall to Hunter Lawrence, with 2-2 moto results
  • Fourth and sixth overall in 250 for Chance Hymas and Jo Shimoda

Round 4 of AMA Pro Motocross took place at High Point Raceway in Mt. Morris, Pennsylvania, where Honda HRC Progressive riders Jett and Hunter Lawrence put on a show in the 450 class, taking the top two spots in the overall results. Jett earned 1-3 moto tallies to earn his fourth-straight overall win and stretch his lead in the title chase, while Hunter had solid 2-2 moto scores for second overall. The squad’s 250 riders were struck by misfortune, with Chance Hymas finishing fourth overall but possibly injuring his knee, while crashes limited Jo Shimoda to sixth overall.

Jett grabbed the holeshot in the first 450-class outing and ran up front before slipping to third when he stalled at the one-third mark. He was back in front four laps later and went on to win the moto by 1.852 seconds. Meanwhile, Hunter settled into fourth early on and advanced to third by lap 3. He rode in that position for much of the moto before moving past Aaron Plessinger near the end and taking a solid runner-up finish. For moto 2, it was Hunter’s turn to pilot his CRF450RWE across the holeshot line in first place, and although he was passed by Eli Tomac a few turns later, he ran in second on the slick, treacherous, rain-soaked track, staying there until the race was red-flagged due to lightning. Jett had been delayed by another rider in turn 1 and was mired mid-pack early on, finishing lap 1 in ninth place. He mounted an impressive charge despite using all of his tear-offs, eventually getting up to third place to earn the overall win. Other Red Riders included Joey Savatgy (Quad Lock Honda Racing), who finished sixth overall, Jeremy Hand (Valley Motorsports) in 22nd, Justin Rodbell (Rodbell Racing) in 26th, Brandon Ray (Raylentless Racing) in 32nd and John Short (IQ Racing Team) in 34th.

In the first 250 moto, Hymas and Shimoda both had to fight through the field after mid-pack starts saw them finish the first lap in 13th and 11th, respectively. Hymas was in the top 10 by lap 2 and sat seventh after lap 6. With three laps remaining, he advanced to the top five, and he stayed there to the checkers. Shimoda climbed to ninth before a tip-over at the quarter-race mark shuttled him back to 13th, forcing him to make an inspired charge to eventually finish one spot behind his teammate. Hymas got a strong jump out of the gate in moto 2 and was third across the holeshot line, then second by the end of the first lap. He remained there until the final lap, when an unfortunate incident saw him cross the finish line in third, favoring his right leg. Shimoda had ended lap 1 in fifth place and gained another spot on the next go-around, only for another crash—this one around the one-third mark—to drop him to 10th. Undeterred, he again charged impressively to finish fifth. Hymas’ 5-3 moto scores were good for fourth overall, while Shimoda ended the day sixth overall. SPR Honda’s Lance Kobusch was 29th overall.

NOTES

  • All four Honda HRC Progressive riders—Jett Lawrence, Hunter Lawrence, Jo Shimoda and Chance Hymas—took part in Friday’s media activities at High Point Raceway, including interviews and riding sessions.
  • Waynesburg Powersports, which has locations in northern and southern Pennsylvania, joined Honda HRC Progressive in the team pits at High Point, displaying a CRF450RWE and a Steve Holcombe CRF400RX Team Great Britain ISDE bike, while engaging with fans and showcasing Honda’s powersports lineup.
  • Honda HRC Progressive was welcomed with incredible hospitality by longtime friends of the team, Jamie and Kayla Irvine and Jay Winter, who cooked for the crew throughout the event. The group prepared dinner at the track on Friday evening and hosted the crew post-race at their Italian restaurant Toscana Brick Oven, in Canonsburg, Pennsylvania. Their continued support and generosity have become a special tradition when the series visits the area.
  • In 250-class combined qualifying, Hymas and Shimoda posted the second- and fourth-best times, respectively. Among the satellite Red Riders, Phoenix Racing Honda’s Gavin Towers was 20th, and SPR Honda’s Lance Kobusch was 27th.
  • In the 450 qualifying ranks, Jett and Hunter were second and fourth, respectively. Quad Lock Honda Racing’s Joey Savatgy was ninth, followed by Valley Motorsports’ Jeremy Hand in 17th, Rodbell Racing’s Justin Rodbell in 19th, IQ Racing Team’s John Short in 24th and Raylentless Racing’s Brandon Ray in 34th.
  • Jett posted the fastest lap time in the second 450 moto.

  • Jett’s 2025 High Point success marks his 19th career 450 Pro Motocross overall win out of 20 races. This moves him into sole possession of 10th place on the all-time premier-class win list (including the 450 four-stroke and 250 and 500 two-stroke divisions).
  • Honda leads all manufacturers in premier-class overall wins at High Point, with Jett’s 2025 victory lifting the total to 16. Red Riders to have won the premier class at High Point include Jimmy Ellis, Bob Hannah, Rick Johnson (twice), Jeff Stanton (twice), Doug Henry, Damon Bradshaw, Ezra Lusk, Ricky Carmichael (four times) and Jett Lawrence (now three times). Red Riders have also amassed 31 moto wins at the Pennsylvania venue.
  • Jett’s win grew his 450 class points lead by three points, to 28, while Hunter moved up a spot, to fourth. In the 250 division, Shimoda and Hymas sit second and third, respectively.
  • On the last lap of the second 250 moto, Hymas dabbed his right foot in a corner and experienced pain in his knee. The Idaho native, who recently returned from surgery to his left ACL, plans to have the knee checked out on Monday.

Jett Lawrence 1

“Another win in the books, but I really had to work for this one! The first moto was decent—I made a few mistakes but was able to capitalize. Then in the second one, it started pouring out of nowhere, and the track soaked up every bit of water—it got slippery really fast. I didn’t get the best start, but I managed to fight through and finished third for the overall win. I’m super-pumped on that, and now I’m looking forward to the break.”

Hunter Lawrence 96

“High Point was a good day—another step forward and definitely better than Thunder Valley. We actually had the overall in our hands, but Jett made his way through a few more guys, and we lost it by just one point—so, a little bittersweet, but still a lot of positives to take away. I’m happy heading into the break, and we’ll keep on working.”

Chance Hymas 10

“It was a rough day for me at High Point—I went 5-3 in the motos, but on the last lap of the second moto, I dabbed my good leg, and now I’m dealing with a lot of pain in my right knee. I’ll be seeing the doctor Monday to get it checked out and figure out a game plan from there.”

Jo Shimoda 30

“I think today was a solid effort, but I made too many personal mistakes—just little crashes in both motos. I was in a good spot each time but fell back and had to fight my way forward again, which made things harder on myself; I need to stop doing that. We’ve got a little break now, so I’m planning to come out swinging at Southwick.”

Lars Lindstrom

Team Manager

“Unfortunately, we’ve had our fair share of these bittersweet days at the races. On one hand, it was a great day for us, getting our premier-class riders to go 1 and 2, while our 250 riders showed good speed and once again proved they’re podium contenders every weekend. On the other hand, it really kills me to see any of our riders have an injury like Chance did in the second moto, and we’re all really hoping for the best outcome with his right knee. We’ll be focusing on improving Jo’s starts, and if we do that, I think he’ll be a real threat for the top step on the podium. Jett was incredible once again in the tricky conditions, and Hunter was awesome as well—so close to his first overall motocross win! I think that will come very soon.”
